News Should Be New

As you might have noticed, I don't post much when I have nothing to report. Just my philosophy, but I see no point in writing about nothing.

Today's report of Real Stuff is that the fourth Cats & Crimes book is nearly there. Cat on a Hot Trash Route will release on October 7, 2025. All your old friends are there, Lorilee Riley, 70+ Sleuth; Jess, her teenage sidekick; and a houseful of lovable cats. Here's the opening:

Chapter One

The corpse lay recumbent on the back patio, legs splayed, eyes not quite closed. It was darkly sodden from overnight rain, the head extending into a shallow puddle of muddy water. I gasped when I saw it; then my moan of regret formed a name. “Eddie.” Though I knew it was useless, I checked for signs of respiration. No chest movement, no sign of air going in and out. Bending, I set two fingers where the jugular pulse should be. Nothing. Gently touching a leg, I found it stiff and cold. I peered at his face and saw that his pupils were fully dilated. Eddie was dead.

As the title suggests, Lorilee becomes involved in an investigation into illegal trash dumping. Jess has his own issues, but of course the two of them get into serious trouble at the end, and a new cat is a big part of it. I expect to have pre-order ready today, so you should should be able to find the book on any big retail book site, Amazon, B&N, Apple, etc. I never know how long it will take the individual sites to catch up, but if you don't see it, it's coming soon.
